Who and where can I complain about a Solicitor (UK)?
November 2nd, 2009 by admin
The Conveyancers dealing with the sale and purchase of my property are failing to respond to my queries, failing to advise me of updates and have actually updated me on someone else’s sale! Who regulates Solicitors and does anyone have any advice?
Thanks for all the answers. I have tried to get information about who to complain to but they don’t even give me these details! I am at a crucial point now so it would be costly both financially and timewise to change firms but it isn’t out of the question at this point.
I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks

Contact the Law Society.
Yes. Contact The Law Society who are there to regulate the Members of their organisation. It might be prudent to copy your letter to the Solicitor concerened, Good luck.
the Law Society, I would think
Try your local Citizen’s Advice Bureau first.
They should be able to help.
it may be an idea to firstly write to someone who is a director of the company concerned. go as high up the chain as you can. if this does not work then write to the law society. i am pretty sure they will have a web site just do a google search. if you do go to the law society make sure you copy in the sols concerned on any correspondence that you write.
and if they are as bad as you say – it might be an idea to find somebody new – ask around friends for recommendations.
good luck

Ignore the above. The is now a very new agency for this very problem
The law society but I don’t hold much hope for you. A solicitor lost the deeds to my property which held the sale up for 11 months I couldn’t get a penny compensation. They had the deeds for 12 years when they should have been sent to the building society

complain firstly to the firm, before you think of involving anyone else.
