To any real estate agents out there?

Estate Agent slow

I live in SC (although I plan to move to TN as soon as I’m financially able), and I was thinking of getting my real estate license. Before I go through all the requirements, though, I’d like to hear from someone who works in that field.

Is the job worth it to you, even with the bad market now, or do you regret it? Is it rewarding? What would I be looking at as far as salary for a year if it hasn’t been a great year? (your best guess) Am I still going to be able to pay the bills (as long as I budget and am reasonable, of course) even if it’s a slow market or a bad year? About how many transactions would you say I might average in a year, and approximately what kind of commission would I be looking at? ANYTHING you can tell me about this would be great! I’m not looking to get rich quick or anything like that; I just want to have a rewarding career where (even in a slower market) I’m not worrying about how I’m going to pay the bills.

Anything at all helps!! Thanks!
Basically, I’m just looking for ANY information pertaining to this field, not just salary, commissions, etc. Any details about the job, lifestyle, benefits, downsides, etc. would be great, along with any tips or advice you may have for me.
Also, what kind of fees would I be having to pay? Are they expensive in relation to the salary I would be making?

We work with a lot of real estate agents and the best advice I can give is to specialize in something that your area needs. Obviously keep your options open to all potential clients though. We have found the clients that come to us that are very satisfied with their real estate agents mention they are impressed with their agent’s knowledge of the short sale arena or work very well with investors or had the right connections to gather and collect the information they were looking for.
Even in a down market their are still buyers.
    Good luck to you!!!!

You are your own boss and that is the best thing in the world. People will call you to sell their house and you will spend time finding a buyer. When it sells, they will ask if you will help them buy a house. You will say yes. I love it.
