Real Estate Brokers/agents?

I realize the market is very slow, but is being an agent still a decent income if you are part time or do not rely on it as your main income?
What is a conservative sales average right now 1 sale/month? 6 sales/year? What can you make on a $250,000 sale commission if you have to split with broker and other agent?

In my area the customary commission is 6%. The listing broker gets 60% of this and the selling broker gets 40%. The commission is then split evenly between the employer broker and the employee salesman. Of course the sales person will have certain expenses such as MLS fees, license fees, continuing education costs, and other items.
