In the Kansas City metro area, is it better to rent or buy a house right now?

We’re planning a move to Kansas City, and are hoping to live on the Kansas side, preferably in Prairie Village or Fairway, or somewhere close. We need four bedrooms and at least two baths, and are hoping for a good-sized yard. I’ve looked at the available rentals and homes for sale, but am wondering if there are folks in the area who would be willing to give your opinion on the wisdom of buying or renting… thanks in advance!

Kansas city area did not take the hit on homes like a lot of areas have. In some areas homes lost a little value ( in metro KC area) But in my opinion not more than 3%. WE are having forecloserers but what I have seen the reason is that people bought more house than they could afford and took out a v-arm rate instead of a home they could afford on a fixed are the ones that are loosing their home on the most part. And the reason they can’t get re financed is because they got behind on payments and now no one will touch them. If you need any help on locating a home you can send me a message and I would be happy to help. Good luck on your move and WELCOME TO KANSAS CITY.
I was once in your situation. Don’t worry, everything will work out for you =)
A year ago I found this organization that gives people up to $1500 in renter or mortagage assistance! They operate in most US cities, I highly suggest you try to get some of this money.
Good Luck!
