If we remortgage, can we do our own conveyancing & how?

conveyancing

What are steps, cost and forms and links, etc (i.e HM Land regsitry),
I mean in the UK only. Most mortgage companies don’t offer free conveyancing.

I don’t really know what you mean. If you refinance your mortgage, the mortgage company would do everything for you including conveyance. However, county recorder’s office should give you information you need.

No the mortgage lender will insist that you use a solicitor. Either their own in house one or one of your own choice. AQlot of lenders do give you free legals when you re-mortgage though.

If you remortgage, you contact your lender and they will send you a form to complete. Depending on the amount you want to borrow. they may need to do a survey on your house. They charge around £200 admin fee for a remortgage. HM and Land Registry have nothing to do with remortgage.

The mortgage lender will not rely on you to get things right. They will engage (or insist you engage) solicitors to do the conveyancing & make you pay for it. This is standard practice everywhere.

It never ceases to amaze me the things folk want to do on “our own” these days.. How do you expect to do your own when you have to ask on here how to go about it?.. he says shaking his head.
