I rent a house with two others, and the house was auctioned, now we’re suddenly being evicted? how?, fair?

rent house now
how much money can each of us get to move? don’t we have more time? the landlord is m.i.a. and now dealing with the bank owner, it seems unfair and a little strange, what are our rights?

    Put your energies into finding alternative arrangements. It’s never pleasant to get into a lawsuit with anyone.

    no its not fair if you signed a lease it has to be abided by until the end of the lease..if you dont have a lease ..you really have no legal recourse..

    IT REALLY DEPENDS ON THE RENTAL TERMS. TO WHOM WERE YOU PAYING RENT

    If you have a lease..then they cant untill the written lease expires..if you pay by the month..it is called a month to month l;ease,,,and they only have to give a 30 day notice then

    New owner. New rules. If the new owner is a decent sort, they would fulfill the lease from the previous owner, but they don’t have to.

    A lot depends on what state you are in. I can tell you that in New York, the realtor the bank has hired to manage the house will often be authorized to help with your moving expenses, to buy peace and get you out ASAP. The bank does NOT want to be in the landlord business, and they will get you out sooner or later. Plead hardship and ask for help in exchange for your cooperation- it might work.

    Do not let the eviction drag on to the last day. You don’t want to be there when the Sheriff comes to enforce a court order. It’s a sad, ugly scene.

    The same thing happened to me only 6 weeks (yes, I said six) after I moved into a house. Fortunately, I had signed a one-year lease! I told the agent who rented me the house (she was also the seller’s agent!) that she would find me a comparable house for comparable rent where I could have my 5 pets, get back my entire deposit, pay my first and last month’s rent, and she would pay to pack my stuff and pay for the movers, or I would see her in court. “Oh, you can’t do that”, she said, to which I replied, “You’d better consult your lawyer ASAP”. Two days later, she called me back saying she would comply with my demands. I’ve been in this house for over nine years, and I’m happy to report she is no longer on this earth to scam anyone else ever again (no, I’m not responsible).
