Housing Benefit is only paid to people in rented accommodation, but you should be able to get some Council Tax Benefit if your income is below a certain level.
I’m trying very hard not to be insulting towards you since it is probably fair to say that not everyone on DLA is a crook and I am giving the benefit of the doubt, but just using common sense ought to tell you that even asking this question takes a certain amount of gall.
There are elderly people who are being made to sell the houses that they have owned and lived in for years just to cover their care now that they are old. What makes you think that the gov. is going to give you the cash to buy yours, you really must be living on another planet. If I was you I would be grateful for what I was getting and keep quiet about it.
That last bit was meant as advice and not an insult, as I said you are probably genuine, but you really can’t be very bright.
Well no is the answer to that but you can still keep all your other benefits if you r circumstances have not changed is it a council house and what part of the country coz prices are coming down in some. and good for you!

your best option is to go for shared ownership with a housing assoc., then the country would pay the rent part, leaving you to pay the equity part which whouldnt be much if you own just 25%
If you buy your own home, then the council will have nothing to do with it when it becomes legally yours, and therefore you will not receive any housing benefit.
Your DLA wont be affected – this is not a means tested benefit. If you have enough savings to buy a house you will find that you are entitled to very few other benefits, and your need for DLA may be investigated.
Sorry, but if you can afford to buy your own house with or without a mortgage then you don’t need Housing Benefit!! If you’re planning on using your DLA care and mobility component to pay for a mortgage then word of advise….DLA won’t be happy-bunnies! You will possibily be investigated and/or have your DLA stopped altogether. Blimey! Don’t you think if it was ok to do that a lot more disabled people would already have done!!
err no , but it won’t surprise if they brought out legislaton for the benifit agency to pay people mortgages!
A Certified Public Accountant should be able to answer this for you, as tax laws are constantly changing.

I’m not sure, but I know there are programs to help you purchase a home. Good luck! Check with the Social Security Adminstration.

From what I remember on Housing benefit, they will only pay interest on the mortgage, not the whole mortgage. Try talking to Citizen’s Advice Bureau.
