How did you Real Estate agents get your strat?

Estate Agent slow
I’m 23 and I’ve for about a year and a half been interested in a career in Real Estate. I know its a slow market right now but I’m sure this the best time to learn everything I need to know so that when the next wave comes I’ll be ready. I live in Florida and I see that classes (rather attend than to do it online) are about $400. plus dues, exams costs I know it adds up. I’m behind in a few bills but its not too bad right now. Would like to start before it becomes a big problem. I’m prepared to downgrade to a part time job take one of my full time checks and get to it. Have any of you agents out there started out this way? How did you start? Lastly, I hear Century 21 is the best company to work for when your just starting out; Is this true? Any advice/in-put would be very helpful

I am a licensed agent, but I just work as a part-time assistant for my parents who have been agents for over 15 years. They started part-time as a backup job in case my dad ever got laid off. This let them learn the ropes without having a lot at stake. What has made them successful is that they are extremely involved in their community. People come to them because they know them in other capacities. My father has served public office for many years, my mother was a teacher, etc.

They work for Century 21. It is a great office for those starting out as they offer quite a bit of training and provide a lot of services for the agents. Several others – Re/MAX for example are really geared at established agents who want to cut the overhead they have to pay to the agency to the bone.
