Can i rent a house if i am unemployed with a lot of savings?

rent house now
I would like to rent a house but i am unemployed due to illness, I don’t claim any benefits but i have £120,000 in savings.
Would i be allowed to rent a house from an estate agent/private landlord considering i have no earnings but have quite a bit of savings put by to pay the rent and bills etc? I have bank statements to prove all savings and references. Thanks.

Of course, but you will have to go through all the usual referencing checks. And probably need a guarantor (silly I know) because although you have the savings, you could totally blow them!! Alternatively pay six months cash up front!

    Estate Agent!

    Of course!
Any sane landlord is going to bite your hand off in the current environment.
They will of course ask to see proof of the savings – and that you’ve had them for some time – but assuming thats no problem – you’ll have no issues.

You are in an advantaged position – so try making a deal where you pay significantly less rent by paying 6 months up front – and continuous 6 monthly lump sums.
Make sure you get a lawyer to draw you up a specific contract in this case – so that both parties are protected appropriately.
    Good luck!
