can i claim housing benefit if i was dismissed by my emplyer?

i was dismissed for reasons of stress and negligence of duties but i was working for my employer a long time before this began. I am in the process of an appeal as i believe the dismissal was highly unfair but meanwhile i need to pay rent!
how does JSA and housing benefit work?
which ones do i qualify for and if i dont get jsa… then can i work 20 hours a week and still get housing benefit?
